CAVE Game created to research the effects of stress on performance

Lumivi consists of a game designed to research how performance levels might vary in immersive environments under stress situations.

In this game, the subjects have to keep moving as fast as possible following the white tile.

There are two variations of the game.

  • Normal.
  • With stress conditions given by lots of blinking colors and glitched sounds.

Our hypothesis implied that performance level increases when subjects are exposed to stress factors.
The hypothesis failed to be accepted since the study could not find any difference in the performance of the subjects with or without stress factors applied.

The study discovered, however, that there is a strong correlation between performance scores under stress and the affinity to play sports that require intense physical activity.

The game was created during the class of "Research Methodologies" during my MSc in "Cognitive Systems and Interactive Media MSc."
